I love classic rock, I love solos, and I love piano, so of course I had to learn how to play Free Bird by Lynrd Skynrd (The whole song is spent waiting to play the mostly improvised solo).
This is a song that I have been working on. It started as a Common Tone excercise with my piano instructor, but eventually transitioned to a song of it's own. The main key is Eb Lydian, but sometimes it modulates to Gm or even at one section to G harmonic minor.
I played with school of rock at the Big Easy in Petaluma, and I was lucky enough to get my hands on a video of my piano part in the song "Hate to Say I Told You So"
It was very fun playing in Vacaville with some other other SOR house bands, where we performed a crowd favorite: the Ballroom Blitz (very good review on the Crème Brûlée at the venue we played at).
We also played at PorchFest in San Rafael. We performed "The Distance" by CAKE, which was super fun. I greatly enjoyed playing the high synth line in the chorus.
